Thank you for your interest in testing my crochet pattern(s).

At the time of writing I don’t have any paid patterns, as my focus so far has been simply sharing my own makes here along with my personal notes. But I am thinking I may offer some paid patterns once I have a few patterns worked up and tested in various different sizes.

And since a few people have already asked me about testing, I’ve gone ahead and created an application form (link below) for anyone who wishes to register their interest. I’ll then be in touch as and when I have a project ready to go.

If you’ve tested patterns before, you’ll be aware of the usual expectations summarised below (though not all are obligatory by any means). Some of these points are covered in the application form, so by completing and submitting the application, this will be taken as your agreement. There’s also an opportunity to add any comments or questions of your own within the form.

General Expectations

You probably:

  • Are happy to work in US crochet terminology
  • Are able to check the finished item for size and fit on a child of appropriate size
  • Can offer feedback on the pattern, its clarity, typos I may have overlooked, punctuation or grammatical errors, missed steps, unclear instructions, and any other general problems you might find such as incorrect sizes or gauge errors
  • Love to share your work on social media both whilst it’s in progress and also when complete, using hashtag(s) provided
  • Have supplies needed including yarn of the same type and weight as that used in the pattern in order to achieve the correct gauge
  • Know how to calculate yardage for your given size
  • Will be able to provide provide some good quality well-lit photos for use on social media or elsewhere and in final pattern listings (with full credit given to you, of course)
  • Would like to add your project to Ravelry
  • Are able to collaborate in Google Docs and/or Facebook Group or Messenger with comments and/or suggested amendments to the pattern
  • Can provide accurate measurements of the finished garment
  • Can work to a deadline of about 4 weeks and communicate in a timely manner should any obstacles arise
  • Agree to purchase the full pattern once published if unable to complete the test to the schedule agreed.

What I can offer:

  • Possibly some yarn in certain cases, if you live in UK (please add a note in the application form if this would be helpful for you)
  • A free PDF copy of the pattern in development, a copy of the finished pattern in all sizes once complete, and any future updates
  • Sharing your work on my own social media accounts (so we both get increased exposure to one another’s audience)
  • Any support needed in order to ensure you achieve a good result
  • A schedule of about 4 weeks in most cases, and understanding about any difficulties that arise, provided timely communication is provided
  • Real appreciation and gratitude for any feedback you have about the points listed above, or anything else you think would be useful or makers of all levels.

Once again, thank you so much for your interest. This support is really valued and appreciated. And it’s my full intention and commitment that any testing partnership we build is equally valuable and enjoyable for all parties.
