River is a buttoned cardigan for both girls and boys using the square yoke crochet construction method which means it’s quick and easy to make and… NO seaming!

It’s suitable for the experienced beginner or intermediate crocheter who’s confident with some basic stitches. Whilst not complicated, it does require knowledge of colour changes, increases and decreases, front and back post stitches, as well as requiring some judgement on the placement of bobbles.

The main stitch used is hdc (US terms) with bobbles made from dc clusters. The ribbing at the neck, hem and the wrist are front and back post hdc.

For these samples I’ve used neutral colours and placed the buttons on the boy’s side, though this can obviously be reversed very easily.

We are currently working on having the pattern written up for size 6-9 months which will be published in due course. I also have in progress a cotton version for the summer with short sleeves, and another sample in a palette of greens. We’ll put those photos up when they’re ready. In the meantime, here’s a shot of the green version as a work in progress.
