Meet Jemima.

This year I’ve enjoyed experimenting with the round yoke construction technique and the beautiful, fluid, feminine shapes it produces. I felt it was particularly suited to some ideas I had for a peplum baby cardigan.

This versions, which I’ve named Jemima, has three contrast colours with cream as the main base colour. The stripes are formed using half double crochet (hdc) stitches, with a second hdc worked around the post of the first.

Made using King Cole’s Finesse, a silk cotton blend, it’s designed for the warmer months, with enough coverage to keep baby warm whilst not overheating.  My first sample has just one button at the neck but I think 5 or 6 plain pearl buttons would work well too.

I love the fun and feminine shape of the peplum which I think works particularly well with trousers or leggings, though it can also go with many other items in the wardrobe.

We’re currently working on getting the pattern written up.
